Tomorrow the European Maritime Day 2021 festivities are officially kicking off! A two-day event during which Europe’s maritime community and ocean leaders meet to network, discuss and forge joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy. This year’s edition wil naturally take place virtually from Den Helder, in the Netherlands.
A rich programme full of workshops, lecture… and some EU4Ocean fun!
What to expect:
Thursday May 20, 2020: the launch of the #MakeEUBlue Campaign – an exciting journey where individuals, organisations and instutions can make a pledge for the ocean. Commissioner Sinkevičius himself, as the first Honorary Envoy of the Youth4Ocean Forum will give the opening speech. Influencers, celebrities and Young Ocean Advocates will then officially kick off the pledges.
In the afternoon, stakeholder workshops take place. From the EU4Ocean side, it’s time to learn more about sea basin actions with the workshop on ‚3 things you didn’t know about the EU4Ocean and Ocean Literacy in the Atlantic and North Sea basin‘.
The cherry on the top? The Ocean Literacy Festival on Friday, May 21,2020!
A post EMD special event, organised by the EU4Ocean coalition (EU4Ocean Platform, Youth4Ocean Forum and EU Network of Blue Schools) addressed to families, young people, pupils, teachers, marine science educators, researchers, policy makers and other professionals.
Composed of diverse virtual events, activities and digital educational content from the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea, it is a lively and entertaining online event with a rich agenda ranging from practical marine science experiments, arts happenings, podcasts, songs, exhibitions, photo shows, videos, talks, seminars, workshops, quizzes, visits, and walks, etc.
